As Trusted Buyers agents in Portugal we know that some business decisions are not made because you want to change direction, they are made because you want to protect the reason you started in the first place. Algarve House Hunters are already known globally for their 100% dedication to the buyer, as trusted Buyers agents.

As Algarve House Hunters grew into one of the best Buyers agents in Portugal, so did the number of people asking one very natural question:

You’re Buyer’s Agents Working with International Clients, So Can You Sell My House?

The question came from friends, colleagues, previous clients and property owners who trusted us:

  • They knew our work

  • They knew our standards

  • They knew we understood the Portuguese property market from the inside

Our answer was that we could add their property to our Secret Listings, a collection of properties that were not yet advertised online. We did successfully help to sell several properties this way by matching them directly with buyers already working with Algarve House Hunters.

However, many owners wanted more than a discreet introduction to our existing clients. They wanted their property to be professionally marketed across Portugal and internationally, reaching the widest possible audience. So, for a long time, our answer to that was no.

It was not because selling property was outside our ability. It was because Algarve House Hunters had been created with a clear purpose. We were buyer’s agents, and our role was to represent people looking for the right property in Portugal,

That distinction mattered from day one. Over time, the requests became too frequent to ignore. We had the team. We had the experience. We had built a wide network across the Portuguese property industry and, most importantly, we had earned trust on both sides of the process.

Still, one thing had to remain non-negotiable:

Algarve House Hunters had to remain a true buyer’s agency.

That is why we created our sister real estate company, Buy Portugal Real Estate.

The question we kept being asked

When a business works well, people often ask it to do more.

That is exactly what happened with Algarve House Hunters.

We helped buyers with their search, assess, compare and purchase property in Portugal. We worked alongside clients who needed clear advice, local knowledge and someone on their side during a process that can feel unfamiliar.

Many of those clients later became sellers.

Some were moving on from a holiday home, some had changed plans, some had bought well and then later wanted to sell well. Others were property owners who had heard about us through the network that we had built over time.

The request was usually simple. “Can you handle the sale?”

For a while, the answer stayed the same. We were focused on growing Algarve House Hunters as a buyer’s agency and doing that job exceptionally well.

There is a discipline in saying no; it keeps a business clear, it stops services becoming blurred and it protects the promise made to clients.

But there is also a point where repeated demand tells you something. People were not just asking whether we could list a property, they were asking whether they could trust us to manage the sale with the same care, honesty, and market understanding that they had seen on the buying side.

That was worth listening to.

Why we did not simply add listings to Algarve House Hunters

Yes, the easiest route would have been to start placing sellers’ properties directly on the Algarve House Hunters website. From a practical point of view, it would have been simple. We already had buyer enquiries, extensive market knowledge and strong relationships with estate agents, developers, lawyers, surveyors and other professionals throughout Portugal.

However, this would not have aligned with the values on which Algarve House Hunters was built.

As an independent buyer’s agency, we work with all real estate agents, both online and offline. We search far and wide, gathering properties from private sellers, off-market opportunities, developers and agencies across Portugal to present our clients with everything that genuinely matches their requirements.

Our principle has always been clear: we do not favour one company, agency or estate agent over another. Our responsibility is to the buyer and to finding the property that is right for them.

It went against the entire reason Algarve House Hunters had been created. A buyer’s agent should be able to look across the market with independence. The advice should be based on fit, value, location, risk, lifestyle and the client’s brief, not on whether a particular listing sits on our own books.

Even the appearance of a conflict can damage trust.

So the question became clear. Could we help sellers without changing what Algarve House Hunters stands for?

The answer was yes, but only if we created a separate company with a separate role.

If Algarve House Hunters had started marketing its own stock of properties, it could have created a question in the mind of every buyer we represented:

“Are they showing me this because it is the best property for me, or because they need to sell it?”

Creating Buy Portugal Real Estate as a completely separate sister company allowed us to offer property owners a professional sales and international marketing service while protecting the independence and integrity of Algarve House Hunters as trusted Buyers Agents.

Properties listed by Buy Portugal Real Estate are therefore considered in exactly the same way as properties offered by every other agency. They are only presented to an Algarve House Hunters client when they genuinely match that buyer’s requirements.

Trust often comes down to knowing who holds which responsibility.

Why separation was the only way to do it properly

Buy Portugal Real Estate was created to give sellers a proper home without changing the identity of Algarve House Hunters.

The distinction is simple:

Algarve House Hunters represents buyers.

Buy Portugal Real Estate represents sellers.

That clear split gives each company a defined purpose. It also allows both to grow without compromising the independence that matters so much to our clients.

For buyers, Algarve House Hunters remains focused on search, representation and advice. The goal is to find the right property, whether that property is listed with a local agent, a developer, a private seller, a bank, or any other legitimate source.

For sellers, Buy Portugal Real Estate exists to market and sell property with the benefit of our experience, our relationships and our understanding of what serious buyers care about.

This was not a cosmetic decision, it was a structural one. A separate seller-side company means:

  • Buyer clients know Algarve House Hunters has not become a listing agency.

  • Seller clients receive a focused service designed around selling.

  • Roles are clear from the start of each relationship.

  • The team can manage both sides without blurring responsibilities.

  • Trust remains at the centre of the process.

In real estate, clarity is not a small detail. It affects advice, expectations, communication and negotiation.

A buyer needs to know who is representing them. A seller needs the same. When everyone understands the role of each company, the process becomes cleaner and more honest.

What Buy Portugal Real Estate gives sellers

Creating Buy Portugal Real Estate allowed us to say yes to sellers properly.

Not as an add-on. Not as a side note. Not as a hidden section of a buyer’s agency website. Sellers deserve a dedicated approach. Selling a property in Portugal is not only about placing it online and waiting for enquiries. It involves positioning, preparation, pricing, presentation, buyer qualification, negotiation and follow-through.

A seller needs guidance on how the property will be seen by the market. They need to understand what will attract the right buyers and what may hold them back. They need realistic advice, not flattery designed to win an instruction.

That is where our buyer-side experience becomes useful.

Because Algarve House Hunters has spent years listening to what buyers ask, worry about and reject, we have a strong understanding of what matters when a property is brought to market.

Buyers often care about things sellers overlook, such as:

  • Whether the location fits the lifestyle being promised

  • How easy the property is to maintain from abroad

  • Whether paperwork feels complete and clear

  • How renovation needs affect confidence

  • Whether price expectations match comparable options

  • How the property presents online before a viewing is arranged

Buy Portugal Real Estate can use that knowledge to help sellers prepare for real buyer behaviour, not an idealised version of it.

A good selling strategy is not about saying yes to everything a seller wants to hear. It is about giving honest advice that improves the chance of a successful sale.

What does this mean for Algarve House Hunters clients

Does having a sister real estate company change Algarve House Hunters?

Absolutely not.

The creation and growth of Buy Portugal Real Estate is not a reason to question Algarve House Hunters’ independence as a trusted buyer’s agent. It is the reason that independence remains protected.

Instead of mixing the two services together, we have separated them.

That means Algarve House Hunters does not need to become something else. It does not need to act like a traditional selling agency while also claiming to represent buyers. It can stay true to its original brief.

When a buyer works with Algarve House Hunters, the focus remains the buyer’s needs. The brief comes first. The search comes first. The suitability of the property comes first.

If a property marketed by Buy Portugal Real Estate ever appears relevant to a buyer, the relationship must be handled with transparency. The buyer has to understand the connection. There should be no confusion about who represents whom and what role each company plays.

That level of openness is exactly why separation matters.

The goal is not to pretend the two companies are unrelated. They are sister companies. The goal is to make the relationship clear, so clients can trust the process and understand where advice is coming from.

For us, that is far better than trying to hide everything under one name.

Why independence matters so much in a buyer’s agency

A buyer’s agency only works when the buyer believes the advice is genuinely for them.

Many buyers coming to Portugal are dealing with unfamiliar territory. They may not know the neighbourhoods well. They may not know local planning rules, property styles, renovation realities or the difference between a listing that looks good online and a property that truly fits their life.

They need someone who can slow the process down, ask better questions and point out issues they may not have considered.

That role becomes weaker if the buyer suspects the recommendation is influenced by the need to sell a particular property.

This is why we have always taken the buyer’s agency model seriously, it is not just a label, it affects how we search, how we advise, and how we say no.

Sometimes the most useful thing a buyer’s agent can say is:

  • This property is overpriced for what it offers.

  • This area may not suit how you plan to live.

  • The layout photographs better than it feels in person.

  • The renovation costs may be more than you expect.

  • There may be better options if we keep looking.

That kind of advice is valuable and is only viable when it is independent.

By creating Buy Portugal Real Estate separately, Algarve House Hunters can keep giving that advice without buyers feeling the search has been narrowed to properties we have been asked to sell.

Why this decision helps both buyers and sellers

A clear structure serves everyone better.

Buyers get a company built around search and representation. Sellers get a company built around marketing and selling. Each side receives the attention it deserves, without one purpose being quietly folded into the other.

This also reflects how real estate relationships should work. People do not all need the same thing at the same time.

A buyer wants someone to help them assess the market, compare choices and avoid costly mistakes.

A seller wants someone to present their property well, reach qualified buyers and negotiate with care.

Those are related skills, but they are not the same service.

Trying to place both under one roof can make things convenient for the business, but convenience should not come at the cost of client confidence.

With two defined companies, we can be clear from the start.

Algarve House Hunters

Represents buyers ONLY that are searching for property in Portugal.

Focused on suitability, search, comparison and buyer advice.

Built to protect the buyer’s interests.

Has many means of offering more Off line / Secret listings.

Buy Portugal Real Estate

Represents sellers bringing property to the market.

Focused on preparation, pricing, marketing and sale strategy.

Built to represent the seller’s interest.

Works with all other agencies from the start to help sell your property fast.

That simple division is the whole point.

The values behind the decision have not changed

The creation of Buy Portugal Real Estate was a growth decision, but it was also a decision about values.

We could see demand from sellers, we knew we could help, we had the network and the practical knowledge to do the job well.

At the same time, we knew Algarve House Hunters should not lose the clarity that made people trust it in the first place.

So we chose the route that took more thought, but made more sense for the long term.

We built a separate company.

That choice protects the buyer’s agency model while allowing us to support sellers properly. It gives previous clients and property owners a trusted place to go when they want to sell. It also keeps the Algarve House Hunters promise intact.

The result is a stronger structure, not a blurred one.

Why Use Buy Portugal Real Estate

We created BPRE because sellers kept asking us to sell their homes. Our difference is simple: we don’t keep your property to ourselves. From day one, we collaborate with other agents on a 50/50 basis, while also connecting suitable properties with active Algarve House Hunters buyers.

More exposure. More buyers. One goal: selling your property.

Buy Portugal Real Estate.

BPRE could represent the seller properly, whilst Algarve House Hunters could continue doing exactly what it had always done: searching the wider market for the best property for its buyer.

What makes Buy Portugal Real Estate different?

Interestingly, many of the principles we learned as buyer’s agents have shaped the way BPRE operates for sellers.

We know that the buyer for your property may not come directly through us.

They may already be an Algarve House Hunters client, they may be represented by another buyer’s agent, or they may already be registered with another estate agency. So why would we want to shut those buyers out?

From the day you sign with Buy Portugal Real Estate, we are happy to collaborate with other real estate agencies and buyer’s agents on a 50/50 commission-sharing basis.

Our priority is not keeping your property to ourselves.

Our priority is selling it.

Alongside this collaborative approach, we believe in honest valuations, strong exposure, clear communication and no unnecessary pressure.

And our connection with Algarve House Hunters gives us another potential route to a buyer. If your property matches the requirements of an existing Algarve House Hunters client then we may already know someone looking for a home just like yours.

But the independence between the companies remains.

An Algarve House Hunters buyer is never pushed towards a Buy Portugal Real Estate property. If it matches their requirements, we show it. If another agency has a better match, we show that instead. If we know of an off-market property that is even more suitable, we pursue that.

For the buyer, we search as widely as possible. For the seller, we share as widely as possible.

And perhaps that is the simplest way to explain why the two companies work so naturally alongside one another.

Thinking about buying a property in Portugal?

If you are, we would genuinely love to hear from you. And if you’re still unsure whether a buyer’s agent is right for you, take a look at our 5-star Google reviews and see what our clients say about their experience with us.

We’ve been doing this for years, and for us, it has always been about much more than finding a property and making a sale. We really do put our clients’ best interests first.

Often that means telling a client that we don’t think a property is correct for them. We will walk away from properties when things are not legal, when there are concerns that need investigating, or when we simply feel it may not be the right choice for our clients.

We would much rather lose a sale than see one of our clients make a bad choice that they might regret.

Buying a home in Portugal is a huge decision, and we want our clients to feel that they have someone genuinely on their side — someone who will tell them the truth, even when it isn’t what they hoped to hear.
