Buying in Portugal is easier when someone local is looking out for the buyer.

Algarve House Hunters were recommended to me by a friend, and I have since recommended them to another friend who is now working with them. I have been working with Algarve House Hunters as my buyer’s agents in Portugal to a potential property, and I would recommend them to any international buyer looking for honest advice and a buyer’s agent who genuinely has your best interests at heart.

The team search for suitable properties, arrange and attend viewings, provide honest advice and point out any potential disadvantages. They are not interested in achieving a quick sale. I would certainly recommend Algarve House Hunters to anyone looking for a trusted buyer’s agent in Portugal. Read on Google

So Happy I Found Algarve House Hunters

A 5-Star Client Review

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Suzanne's Review

Five-star review from Suzanne about Algarve House Hunters, her buyer’s agent in Portugal

This client originally contacted Algarve House Hunters as their buyers agent while searching for a property in the north of Portugal. After three days of viewings, the search continued remotely until the right property was found.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Our Client’s Full Review

So happy I found Algarve House Hunters

I first found Algarve House Hunters online when I was looking to buy a property in the north of Portugal. I wanted an exclusive buyer's agent in Portugal who would represent my interests throughout the buying process, and I couldn't have made a better choice.

From the very beginning, Luchia Charles was exceptional. I travelled to Portugal for three days of viewings, and although we didn't find the right property during my visit, she continued searching and arranged video viewings once I returned home until we found the perfect property.

Luchia then guided me through every stage of the purchase. She helped me obtain my Portuguese NIF, arranged property evaluations, introduced me to a lawyer who acted under Power of Attorney to sign the CPCV while I was abroad, and kept me informed and educated throughout the entire process. The entire process was very pleasant and I felt secure working with Luchia.

When I flew back to Portugal to sign the final deed, Luchia accompanied me to ensure everything went smoothly. Even after completion, her support continued. She attended my first condominium meeting with me, helped me find trusted contacts for air conditioning installation and other local services, and has always been available whenever I've needed advice.

What makes Algarve House Hunters different is that they truly represent the buyer. Having a dedicated buyer's agent in Portugal gave me complete confidence that my interests were always being protected from start to finish.

If you're thinking about buying a property in Portugal, whether in the Algarve, the north, or anywhere else in the country, I highly recommend Algarve House Hunters. Their professionalism, communication, knowledge and aftercare are outstanding.

Five stars simply aren't enough. Thank you, Luchia, for making my dream of owning a home in Portugal a reality.

A good buyer’s agent helps balance emotion with practical judgement.

Suzanne’s review shows the value of support from abroad

Suzanne’s five-star Trustpilot review adds another layer. She found Algarve House Hunters online while looking to buy a property in the north of Portugal. She wanted an exclusive buyer’s agent in Portugal who would represent her interests through the process.

Her review describes a common international buyer journey. She travelled to Portugal for three days of viewings. She did not find the right property during that visit. For many buyers, that moment can feel discouraging. Flights, accommodation, planning, and emotional energy have already gone into the trip.

But the search did not stop there.

Suzanne says Luchia Charles continued looking after she returned home and arranged video viewings until they found the right property. That kind of continuity is often what separates a basic property search from a properly managed buying service.

Remote support matters because most international buyers cannot stay in Portugal for weeks or months while searching. They need someone who can keep the process moving without pressuring them into the wrong choice.

Video viewings are useful, but only when handled carefully. A thoughtful buyer’s agent can show more than the pretty parts of a home. They can examine natural light, noise, surrounding properties, road access, damp signs, storage, outdoor areas, and the general feel of the neighbourhood.

The buyer still makes the decision. The agent makes sure the buyer has better information.

Why the process can feel safer with the right guidance

Buying property in Portugal involves several steps that may be unfamiliar to international buyers. Some are simple once explained. Others need professional legal and financial guidance.

Suzanne’s review mentions several parts of the process:

  • Obtaining a Portuguese NIF

  • Arranging property evaluations

  • Being introduced to a lawyer

  • Using Power of Attorney while abroad

  • Signing the CPCV

  • Returning to Portugal to sign the final deed

This article is informational only and is not legal or financial advice. Buyers should always use qualified professionals for legal, tax, and financial matters.

Still, it is easy to see why guidance matters. The purchase is not just about choosing a house. It is about coordinating people, documents, timings, payments, inspections, and decisions across countries.

The NIF, or Portuguese tax identification number, is commonly needed for major financial and legal steps in Portugal. The CPCV, or promissory purchase and sale contract, is a key agreement in many property purchases. Power of Attorney can allow a lawyer to act for a buyer when they are not physically present, if arranged correctly.

For an overseas buyer, these terms can feel intimidating at first. A calm, experienced guide can make the process feel manageable.

Suzanne’s words are telling. She says she felt secure working with Luchia and that the process was very pleasant. That combination is rare in international property buying. Pleasant matters, but secure matters more.

Good buyer representation is practical, not just reassuring

Trust is important, but it has to show up in concrete ways. The recent reviews point to practical behaviours that buyers can look for when choosing representation.

As your Buyers Agents in Portugal we listen before searching

A useful search starts with more than a budget and a preferred region. It should include lifestyle, travel patterns, tolerance for renovation, rental plans if relevant, mobility needs, and long-term goals.

Someone moving full-time has different needs from someone looking for a holiday base. A buyer who wants rural quiet may still need access to healthcare or an airport. A family may prioritise schools and year-round community. Retirees may care more about walkability and future maintenance.

Our Agents Attend Viewings With a Critical Eye

Our agents attend viewings with the buyer’s interests in mind, looking beyond the presentation for potential issues such as damp, access, orientation, condition and suitability.

If you read our reviews, you’ll also see that we have advised clients to walk away from properties when we have identified problems or felt they were not right for them.

We don’t believe in selling at any cost — we believe in honest advice and putting our clients first.

Our Support Continues After Your Viewing Trip

Read through our reviews and you’ll see that sometimes clients don’t find the right property during their first visit. That doesn’t mean the search stops.

Our team continues looking, arranging video viewings, follow-up viewings and regular communication until the right property comes along.

For international buyers, that ongoing support can make all the difference — we stay with you throughout the search, not just during your trip to Portugal.

The Human Difference in a High-Stakes Purchase

Buying property abroad involves significant money and trust. Unfortunately, not every buyer will receive the same level of honest advice.

Recently, we came across a situation where a new client was asked by an agent to pay €80,000 in cash outside the documented purchase arrangements. We immediately advised our client not to proceed with this and to seek proper legal advice.

This is exactly why we believe a buyer’s agent should be prepared to speak up, ask questions and protect the buyer’s interests — even when that means advising against a transaction.

Our role is not to make a sale at any cost. It is to give our clients honest advice and help them make informed decisions.

Finding Properties Beyond the Portals

These reviews are a great example of why the property search doesn’t always end with what you can find online. One of our clients had been searching for two years or more before Algarve House Hunters found the property that became their forever home.

Many of our reviews reinforce the same point: we often find properties for our clients that they would not have found themselves online.

Our network, local contacts and direct relationships with owners and agents give us access to properties both online and offline, including opportunities that may never appear on the major property portals.

Sometimes finding the right home simply means knowing where and who to ask.
